ABOUT JOYCAST

Small studio. Serious shows.

Joycast is a video podcast studio in Southend-on-Sea, UK. You record; I handle every stage after that, editing, clips, thumbnails, copy and release. Here's who's actually doing it.

WHO'S BEHIND ITSOLO-LED
Matt, founder of Joycast, at his studio desk
MATTSOUTHEND-ON-SEA, UK

Hi, I'm Matt. Joycast is my studio, run out of Southend-on-Sea, the town I grew up in. I came up through music and creative technology: a degree, then a few years running the technical side of a college recording studio, before going self-employed and, over lockdown, teaching myself to edit video on a YouTube channel of my own. Cleaning up audio for freelance clients slowly turned into producing whole shows, once I realised what most teams actually want is to press record and get a finished, on-brand episode back.

Coming from audio, I treat the sound as seriously as the picture. Every voice gets cleaned and levelled, both cameras are matched so episode forty still looks like episode four, the captions are set by hand rather than auto-generated, and the intro is built from the best thing said in the room. That's the taste half. The systems half, templates, checklists, a tight workflow, is what lets one person hold that standard on a schedule you can plan a release around.

I've produced shows for all sorts: founders and marketers, a global movement (the podcast for Special Olympics International), and, genuinely, the odd violin maker and heart surgeon. The common thread is people who want a serious show without having to become producers themselves. I keep the whole thing generous and gimmick-free on purpose: revisions until you're happy, no contracts, no fake countdowns, and you own every file forever. If I'm ever fully booked, you'll get an honest start date, never a made-up "last spot".

HOW I WORK

Joycast runs like a crew because of the systems behind it, but the hands on your episode are mine. Same person every week, an under-a-week turnaround, and a flat per-episode price published openly on the pricing page. No contracts, and you keep every file forever.

I also write every entry in the Mission Log. Same rule there as everywhere else on this site: only real, checkable sources, and never an invented statistic. Articles are drafted with AI to move faster, then reviewed, corrected and signed off by me before anything goes live.
